Description The Prime Minister (more commonly called the Premier) is head of the autonomous government of Greenland, established as a result of a referendum passed in January 1979 favoring Home Rule. On June 21, 2009, Greenland replaced the Home Rule Government with the 'Greenland Self-Government' which is what Greenland's government, led by a Prime Minister, is called today.

The Prime Minister is selected by majority vote of parliament for an unlimited term and presides over the naalakkersuisut (council of ministers or 'cabinet').
