| Description |
The Mayor of the City of Absecon is elected at-large to a four-year term. She is responsible for the operation of Absecon municipal government. The Mayor appoints, with the advice and consent of council, all subordinate officers of the municipality. The Mayor participates in the deliberations of Council but votes only in the case of a tie vote among its members.. She can veto ordinances subject to override by 2/3 majority of Council.
The police department reports to the Mayor and she appoints the police chief, captains and sergeants with Council approval.
