The Commander-in-chief leads Myanmar's Defence Services (tatmadaw), and since February 2, 2021, officiates as Myanmar's head of government as Chairman of the State Administrative Council. The Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services also administers state affairs as Prime Minister as of August 1, 2021 [Link] The Commander-in-Chief appoints the President's Ministers of Defence, Home Affairs and Border Affairs, who must all hail from Myanmar's military.
The Commander-in-Chief also tacitly selects the remaining ministers and deputy ministers of the government (a/k/a, the Union Government), appoints 56 of the 224 members of the upper house of Parliament (the House of Nationalities or Amyotha Hluttaw) and 110 of the 440 members of the lower house (the House of Representatives or the Pyithu Hluttaw).
The Commander-in-Chief is also indirectly selects the President of the country, through control of a third of the three-committee body which elects the President (the President is not directly elected).
