Following guidelines set forth and in accordance with the Charter of the City and County of Denver, the Commission shall be vested exclusively in and exercise the conduct, management and control of the registration of voters, the holding of elections, and the canvassing of returns thereof while issuing certificates of election, as well as all other matters pertaining to elections in the City and County of Denver.
Commissioners and Organization
The Denver Election Commission is composed of three members. Two members are elected for four year terms at the general municipal election. The other Commission member is the Clerk and Recorder of the City and County of Denver. Under the terms of the City Charter, the Clerk and Recorder is an ex officio (automatic because of the office held) member of the Commission.
On assuming office, each Commissioner must be at least twenty-one years of age, a duly registered elector in the City and County of Denver, and a citizen of the United States. Election Commission members are not allowed to become candidates for any elective office other than Election Commissioner while they are incumbents of the Election Commission.
