| Description |
Office abolished after the 1989 coup d'état led by Col. Omar Hassan al-Bashir, and reestablished in 2017.
A coup d'état on April 11, 2019 removed President Bashir from power. A Transitional Military Council established shortly thereafter was replaced by a Sovereignty Council on August 4, 2019 composed of six civilians and five military officials.
The Sovereign Council appointed Abdalla Hamdok as Sudan's Prime Minister, who was sworn in on August 21, 2019 [Link]
The Prime Minister was deposed after a coup launched on October 24, 2021 and the Sovereignty Council renamed the Transitional Sovereignty Council on October 25, 2021. The Prime Minister was reinstated on November 21, 2021.
