According to City Code, the regular city election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November on every even-numbered year. Two Council Members are elected each election and the Mayor is elected every election. The Mayor serves a two-year term and is elected at-large. Council Members serve a four-year term and are also elected at-large.
The City Council generally meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7:00 pm in the Public Meeting Room at City Hall. Other special meetings are posted at City Hall, Facebook page and notices are submitted to the Janesville Journal.
