This riding runs from Lac des Deux Montagnes in the north to the St. Lawrence River in the south. The western boundary is the Ontario/Quebec border. It contains the regional county municipality of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The riding includes Vaudreuil-Dorion, Hudson, Pincourt, Rigaud, Notre-Dame-de-L'Ile and L'Ile Perrot.
Manufacturing and retail industries are the main employers in this riding.The average family income is $69,681 and unemployment is 4.8 per cent.
There is a significant anglophone population in this riding. According to the 2001 census, 19 per cent have English as a first language, while 75 per cent claim French.
There was no change to this riding in the 2004 redistribution. The riding was Vaudreuil from 1867 to 1914 and Vaudreuil-Soulanges from 1914 to 1966 and again from 1997. In 1996, the riding kept 76 per cent of its population.
