Description This Niagara area riding, on the south shore of Lake Ontario, contains part of the city of St. Catharines. It runs from Lake Ontario in the north to St. Paul Street West, St. Paul Crescent, Twelve Mile Creek and Glendale Avenue in the south, between Fifteen Mile Creek in the west and the Welland Canal in the east.

Manufacturing is the major industry, most of which is in automotive and parts production. General Motors is the largest employer with three separate plants. Average family income is $62,972 and unemployment is 6.4 per cent.

The riding was established in 1966. In 1996, part of the Welland-St. Catharines-Thorold riding was added. In 2004, part of the Niagara Centre riding was added in the south.
