Description |
The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy is ex officio Vice President of the European Commission and considered the Commission's second-in- command, its powers established by the Lisbon Treaty signed in 2009. The High Representative is elected by majority vote of the European Council every five years.
The other vice presidents are only appointed by the Commission President.
