Riding profile
This newly named riding is in the Centre-du-Québec region and consists mainly of farms between Montréal and Québec City on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. The riding lies across the river from Trois-Rivières. It includes the communities of Bécancour (home to Quebec's only nuclear power generator, Gentilly-2), Nicolet, Daveluyville, Pierreville, Saint-François-du-Lac, Saint-Léonard-d'Aston and many other smaller communities. The First Nations reserves of Odanak and Wôlinak are also in the riding.
The riding mainly comprises territory from the old riding of Nicolet-Yamaska plus a chunk from the western part of the neighbouring riding of Lotbinière.
Political history
The riding's main predecessor district changed hands between the province's major parties over the years.
