Description |
One of nine regional states (or 'kililoch') created on the basis of a presumed common genealogy or common language by the revolutionist Ethiopian regime, a process which began on its assumption of power in 1991.
Though the Oromo people are predominant here, the state elevated the status of the Hararis, a minority in the state, to equal representation.
Oromo and Harari are the two official languages
Harar is the capital.
