The head of Slovenia's government is called the 'President of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia' (the term 'prime minister' is not used in Slovenia). |
The President of the Government is appointed by the President of the Republic upon majority vote approval in the National Assembly.
The President of the Government selects his council of ministers representing 14 ministries and takes office only after all of his ministers are sworn in by the National Assembly.
Janez Janša became Slovenia's President of the Government (Prime Minister), winning majority support in parliament on March 3, 2020. Janša selected his cabinet on March 6, 2020. Each member of his cabinet will go through a confirmation process before parliament, a process which begins on March 10, 2020.
