| Description |
The Prime Minister is head of government and the executive arm of the country.
As befits a parliamentary monarchy, Lesotho's King has the duty of ceremoniously appointing the Prime Minister after he is selected by majority vote in parliament and in accordance with the advice of the Council of State. The Prime Minister serves a five-year term.
On the advice of the Prime Minister, the King appoints other Ministers from among Members of Parliament from the National Assembly or Senate to form the Prime Minister's Cabinet.
