31-member upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. All 31 members are appointed by the President, out of which 16 are appointed on the advice of the Prime Minister, and six on the advice of the leader of the opposition. Nine Senators are appointed in the discretion of the President.
Members are appointed (or re-appointed) every five years.
