Description "The Little Town With Big Possibilities"

Named for town founder Frank S. Lusk.

Frank S. Lusk was born April 27, 1857. He came to Wyoming for the first time in 1877 but only stayed for a short time. His travels took him to numerous states but in 1880 he returned and purchased land that would later become the town site of Lusk, Wyoming. After purchasing and establishing his land, he decided to put in for a post office on the land rather than travel to the closest one located at Rawhide Buttes. The post office was given the name 'Lusk' which then named the town Lusk and has since never been changed. In 1894 Frank S. Lusk married Louise B. (Findley) Lusk. Together, they resided for a time in the town of Lusk with their adopted daughter Vivian Gorham Lusk (Mahmood Abozeid) before leaving the town. In 1930 Frank S. Lusk died in Missoula, Montana on August 6.

The town of Lusk works closely with the Niobrara County Library for genealogy. You can visit the website (linked below) to search your own genealogy or to view the obituary for Frank S. Lusk, the founder of Lusk, Wyoming.
