Info | Pine, William Bliss; a Senator from Oklahoma; born in Bluffs, Scott County, Ill., December 30, 1877; attended the public schools; taught school three years; employed as a salesman of harvesters; moved to Chanute, Kans., and was employed in the oil producing business, moved to Oklahoma in 1904 and continued in the oil industry; in 1909 located in Okmulgee, Okla., where he eventually became extensively engaged in the production of oil; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1925, to March 3, 1931; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1930; resumed his former business pursuits; unsuccessful candidate for governor in 1934; died in Okmulgee, Okla., August 25, 1942; was the Republican nominee for the United States Senate at the time of his death; interment in Okmulgee Cemetery.
