Rep. Clayton has received the President's Award of the Young Lawyers' Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. A 1987 graduate of Hannibal Senior High, Rep. Clayton received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Southern Methodist University in 1991 and received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1994.
Born August 20, 1969, in Hannibal, Rep. Clayton is the grandson of former Senator George D. Clayton, Jr.
