InfoCharles Fitzgerald is a fifth generation resident of Lake County with a dedicated history of public service. He is the current Supervisor of Shields Township. An elected position he has held since 1995.

Charles received his Associate Degree in 1982 from the College of Lake County and was recently awarded the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Barat College in Lake Forest in 1984. Charles also holds a 1992 graduate certificate from George Washington University’s prestigious Washington Representative Program in Government Relations.

Charles began his public service career in 1984 on the staff of retired Congressman John Porter. His career also includes positions as an independent public policy consultant to a national organization in Washington, D.C. and a Legislative Representative to the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Agency Director’s.

Among the many organizations Charles is involved with, he currently serves on: the Advisory Board for Youth Build Lake County, Board of Director for the United Way of Lake Forest / Lake Bluff and an Advisory Board Member for NICASA’s Teen Count.

Charles’ interests and talents for our communities are utilized as a member of the Lake Bluff / Lake Forest Kiwanis Club and as a volunteer with the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago. He has also participated as a “job shadow” volunteer for Lake Forest High School students and a volunteer reader for younger students in the primary schools in the North Chicago School District.
