InfoRep. Michael W. Schilling, a Democrat, represents part of Greene County (District 136) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to his fourth consecutive two-year term in 1998, Rep. Schilling is a member of the Missouri Court Automation Committee and the Midwestern Higher Education Commission.

Prior to being elected to the House, Rep. Schilling taught journalism at Southwest Missouri State University for three semesters, and was a news reporter for 17 years. His journalism career included work at the Springfield News-Leader and KYTV, the NBC television affiliate in Springfield

Rep. Schilling was a founding member of the southwest Missouri chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He is currently a member of the Ozarks Literacy Council, the Western Missouri Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, and the SpringBike Bicycle Club.

A 1962 graduate of Paton High School in Iowa, Rep. Schilling received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture journalism from Iowa State University in 1968.

Born June 12, 1944, in Jefferson, Iowa, Rep. Schilling currently resides in Springfield with his wife, Christine, and son, Sam.
