She formerly served as Laclede County Clerk from 1983-1990 and was the first woman elected to this position in the county. A Laclede County Republican Committee member for 12 years, she also is a member of the following organizations: Lebanon Chamber of Commerce; Lake Area Citizens Advisory Board; First United Methodist Church; Planned Progress and Governmental Affairs Committees; and the Laclede County Republicans.

A 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School, Rep. Long attended Drury College.

Born April 7, 1948, in Lebanon, Rep. Long resides there with her husband, Kent. They have three daughters: Amie, Dana and Sarah, and three grandchildren.
