InfoJim Ryun grew up in Wichita, Kansas, achieving national acclaim as a High School track and field star. In 1965, Jim set the male High School Mile Record of 3:55.3, which stood for 36 years. Jim participated in the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympic games, winning a silver medal in the 1500 meter run in 1968.

Jim also held the World Record in the mile, 1500 meters, and 880 yards. Jim is the founder and president of Jim Ryun Sports, Inc., a public relations company. Through this business, Jim has been a product development consultant, marketing products and promoting awareness of various charities. Jim's most recent partnership was with the ReSound Hearing Aid Company, creating his own program "Sounds of Success," aimed at helping hearing impaired children fulfill their potential.

Jim won re-election to the Second District Congressional seat for his fourth term by a margin of 22 points. He brought forth a message of economic relief for the families of the Second District and works to ease the tax burden and eliminate unnecessary governmental regulations. As a citizen-statesman, Jim serves the people with a commitment to honesty and integrity. He is a member of the Armed Services, Budget and Financial Services Committees.

Jim and Anne, his wife of 33 years, live on a farm in rural Jefferson County, Kansas. They have four children: Heather, Ned, Drew and Catharine. Heather married Captain Daymen Tiffany on October 26, 1997. Jim and Anne became grandparents on January 21, 1999 with the birth of their first grandchild, Justus Nathaniel Tiffany, born to Daymen and Heather. Their second grandchild, Walker Leon Tiffany was born on January 19, 2001.
