| Info | Mrs. Roberts is the President and owner of LexTech, Inc., a 10-year-old computer and accounting business based in Lexington, Kentucky and a partner in B & R Farms, a 50-year-old family farm in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She represents our oldest economy with her family farm to the new economy with a successful technology business in Kentucky.
Basha C. Roberts was born and raised in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky in an entrepreneur family who owned farms and a country general store. She completed college classes while attending high school and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics. After working for a few years in government service work, she was intrigued by the technology frontier and started a career in the computer industry. She has been called �the unique geek� in that she has built her business around computer technology with an emphasis on accounting, business processes, workflow and security. She has collected many computer industry certifications over the years, including Certified Netware Engineer and Certified Security Professional.
The Lane Report named Mrs. Roberts as one of the �Top Women in Business� in 1996. The Lexington Chapter of NAWBO recognized Mrs. Roberts as their Member of the Year in 1997. In 2002 she became the first woman elected to The Lexington Rotary Board of Directors.
Mrs. Roberts has been active and served in leadership for many community organizations. Her service has included the YMCA of Central Kentucky - Executive Board of Directors, The United Way of the Bluegrass - Board of Directors, The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) - Lexington Chapter Board of Directors, Vice President, President, and National Public Policy Council Director, Fayette County Republican Woman's Club - Secretary, Calvary Baptist Church � Welcome Committee Chair, Budget Committee, RA Director, GA leader, and Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Roberts�s government experience includes the Gateway Area Development District, the Bluegrass Employment and Training Program and the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children. In addition, her business has worked with a number of local governments and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.
She is married to W. A. (Bill) Roberts, Jr. and they have one child, Austin who is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky.
