Info | Councilman Kevin Kelley was appointed to Cleveland City Council in 2005. Prior to assuming the council position, Kelley had spent over 14 years working in area community service agencies. Recently, Kelley earned his law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law and joined the law firm of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur.
Following his graduation from Marquette University, Councilman Kelley became a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. As a Jesuit Volunteer, Kelley spent one year as a full time volunteer at Cleveland’s West Side Catholic Center. Following his volunteer year, Kelley worked at Recovery Resources (formerly Neighborhood Counseling Service) assisting mentally ill adults obtain income, healthcare, and housing. While working at Recovery Resources, Kelley earned his Master’s Degree form Case Western Reserve University in Social Administration.
Councilman Kelley then became the Program Director for the Community Assessment Foundation, where he supervised a program that assisted former offenders in reentering the community. He also worked at the Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health Board as a Services Specialist.
In 2000, Councilman Kelley rejoined Recovery Resources to manage their programs assisting mentally ill defendants who are under the supervision of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and the Cleveland Municipal Court. As such, Kelley supervised a team of service providers who worked collaboratively with the department of probation to assist mentally ill defendants obtain medical treatment, housing, and income.
