InfoWendy McMahon was elected as MLA for Columbia River – Revelstoke in the 2001 provincial general election and was appointed Minister of State for Women's and Seniors' Services on December 14, 2004. She previously served as chair of the Government Caucus and was on the Safe Schools Task Force.

Before becoming an MLA, Wendy was the executive assistant to the Rocky Mountain Superintendent of Schools, a position she held since 1988. She has worked in both the public and private sectors over the past thirty years. While employed by the Toronto-Dominion Bank she worked in a number of positions, including senior accounting officer. In 1979 she was employed with Thorne Riddell chartered accountants and upon Wendy’s departure for the East Kootenay in 1987, was the executive assistant to the managing partner.

Wendy’s extensive community involvements includes: Rotary Club of Invermere secretary (1998-2000); Rocky Mountain Toastmasters Club president (1998-2000); Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena director (1992-2000); Fairmont Hot Springs Community Association director (1999-2001); Rotary Club of Invermere “Loop the Lake” Committee chair (1999); East Kootenay Library Society director (1992-1996); and, Invermere Public Library Board trustee (1991-1999) and chair (1992-1996). In 1998 Wendy was awarded one of three BC Library Trustees Association Super Trustee Awards.

Born in 1951 in Edmonton, Wendy and her husband Brian, who married in 1970, have lived in Fairmont Hot Springs since 1987. They have one child. Wendy enjoys walking and reading.
