Info | Angus Robertson was elected as the SNP MP for Moray in 2001. Regularly rated by the House of Commons Library as 'Scotland's Hardest Working MP' he was also the country's youngest Westminster parliamentarian, until the dissolution of parliament in April 2005, and is the SNP spokesman on Foreign Affairs and Defence. He lives with his partner in Moray. Angus was born on the 28th September 1969 in London. Educated at Broughton High School in Edinburgh he graduated with an MA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from Aberdeen University. Before his election in June 2001 he was the European and International Affairs Adviser to the SNP group in the Scottish Parliament. Prior to that, he worked as a foreign and diplomatic correspondent in central Europe for the BBC, Austrian Radio and other leading broadcasters. He stood as SNP candidate in Midlothian at the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, where he raised the SNP share of the vote to just over 30%. Angus is strong campaigner on issues of importance to his Moray constituency including fishing, whisky and the armed forces. He also hosted Scotland's first peace and reconciliation talks which brought together parliamentarians from the South Caucasus. As an MP he was a member of the European Scrutiny Committee, Vice-Chairman of the All Party Whisky Group, Vice-Chairman of the All Party Offshore Oil and Gas Group, member of the All Party Fisheries Group and graduate of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme.
