Info | BARRY, William Bernard, a Representative from New York; born in County Mayo, Ireland, July 21, 1902; immigrated to the United States in 1907 with his parents, who settled in Queens County, N.Y.; attended the public schools; was graduated from New York University at New York City in 1925 and from its law school in 1929; was admitted to the bar in 1929 and commenced practice in New York City; assistant district attorney of Queens County, N.Y., in 1932 and 1933; special United States attorney for the Department of Justice 1933-1935; member of the Democratic executive committee of Queens County 1930-1935; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of William F. Brunner; reelected to the Seventy-fifth and to the four succeeding Congresses and served from November 5, 1935, until his death; had been renominated to the Eightieth Congress; died in New York City, on October 20, 1946; interment in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing, N.Y.
