Info I was born in 1948 in the London Borough of Barnet, the second of three sons, to Harold and Winifred Hughes. At the age of eight the family moved to the village of Brookmans Park near Hatfield, Hertfordshire where my Father opened an electrical retail business. I was educated at St. Audreys Secondary Modern School in Hatfield leaving at the age of sixteen to join the Hertfordshire Police Cadets and went on to serve in the regular force until 1970 when I resigned to take over the family business upon my Father’s accession to the directorship of a national ‘buying group’ company. In the ensuing years the business grew to three shops in the Hertfordshire area. Married to Shirley in 1976 and living in St. Albans, we had three children, one daughter, Caroline, born in 1978 and twin sons, Jonathan and Matthew in 1982. After divorcing in 1991 I continued to live in St. Albans raising my children alone. After the death of my Mother in 1995 and the eventual liquidation of the business in 1997 the family moved to a property acquired by my Father in Bournemouth to live together with him. Having remained single since divorcing and my children now left home, I live alone with my Father who is in his 90th. year.

I currently work as a business administrator for a former colleague in the motor cycle business, but as this only occupies one or two days a week I have much spare time to pursue other interests. As a committed Christian in an evangelical church I have been free to devote much of my time to a lay ministry that has involved leadership and teaching within the local church, working with a charity committed to the care of young people with learning disabilities and administering a ‘gift aid’ programme for a national church movement. Although not previously being particularly interested in politics, I have in recent years become increasingly alarmed at the growth of the power of the European Union and the commitment of the existing political establishment toward it. It has therefore become my resolve as an unashamed patriot to undertake whatever demands that may be made upon me through the legitimate political process to secure for the United Kingdom, firstly the restoration of democracy and the right to self determination by the British people. Secondly the restoration of the rights and liberties of the subjects of the crown to live in a country with minimal state interference and thirdly the restoration of honesty and integrity in British politics. To this end I have offered myself and have been selected as a parliamentary candidate on behalf of the United Kingdom Independence Party in the constituency of Christchurch. Vote for UKIP in 2005 and change Politics forever.
