Info | BRONSON, David, a Representative from Maine; born in Suffield, Conn., February 8, 1800; was graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., in 1819; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1823 and commenced practice in North Anson, Maine; member of the State house of representatives in 1832 and 1834; justice of the peace; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of George Evans and served from May 31, 1841, to March 3, 1843; moved to Augusta, Maine, in 1843 and resumed the practice of law; member of the State senate in 1846; moved to Bath, Maine, in 1850 and served as collector of customs until 1853; judge of probate for Sagadahoc County 1854-1857; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1856 to the Thirty-fifth Congress; died in St. Michaels, Talbot County, Md., November 20, 1863; interment in the Episcopal Cemetery of St. Michael’s Parish.
