InfoDenton County Judge Scott Armey is a native Texan, born in Sherman, Texas. He is the son of U.S. Congressman Dick Armey who has represented the 26th Congressional District of Texas since 1985.

At the age of 15, Scott helped his father on the campaign trail in his first bid for Congress. Not long after his father went to Washington, Scott served as a summer intern in Florida Congressman Connie Mack's Washington office.

Scott is a graduate of the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1990 on a full Presidential Scholarship in just three years.

Scott learned the value and pride of earning a paycheck early in life when he took on a paper route at the age of nine. Whether washing dishes through high school, working full-time during college, or beginning his career in the private sector after graduating, Scott knows that it's the American worker who fuels our economy.

Scott also takes pride in his commitment to public service. He believes Americans should not just take from our communities in order to build their personal wealth, but should give something back to our country.

Scott was elected Denton County Commissioner, Precinct 3 in November, 1992. After serving two terms as County Commissioner, Scott was elected Denton County Judge in November, 2000. Scott has served as County Judge since December 1, 2000.

One of Scott's primary objectives as County Commissioner and now County Judge has been stimulating economic development, attracting new business into Denton County, and expanding the county's commercial tax base. Since 1993, the County's tax base has more than doubled, growing by over $15 billion.

Recognizing the critical importance of sound infrastructure, Scott has dedicated a great deal of his time to many Denton County road projects. By taking a leadership role on the development of critical roads such as Interstate 35, SH 121, FM 2499, FM 3040, and FM 407, US 380 and SH 114, Scott is helping to pave the way for better access and safer roads for Denton County residents.

Scott has also led the County's efforts to address several other key issues facing Denton County. In 1992, Scott promised to work to keep taxes low, cut wasteful spending, end unfair hiring quotas, create ethics reform, crack down on illegal dumping, and renew the County's effort to reduce crime. And during his first term in office, Scott delivered on all of these promises.

Since taking office, Scott has returned over $18,000 in pay raises to the taxpayers of Denton County. This funding has enabled the County to provide assistance to the North Texas Community Clinic and Birthing Center, the Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center, and Court-Appointed Special Advocates.

Scott and his wife, Carisa, live in Denton with their son, Avery Byerly.
