|Info||Vi Daley was sworn in as Alderman of the 43rd Ward on March 31, 1999 and was reelected in March of 2003. Daley served as the Chief of Staff to 43rd Ward Alderman Charles Bernardini, prior to her election. Charles Bernardini asked Vi to join him as soon as he was appointed in 1993. Before joining Bernardini, Vi Daley was the Executive Director of Friends of Lincoln Park. |
Vi has been an active member of the Lincoln Park community for thirty-two years. She currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Advisory Board of the St. Vincent de Paul Center and Grant Hospital. She continues to be involved with the Lincoln Park Conservation Association, Cummings Playground and Mid-North Park.
Daley was the guiding force in the redevelopment of Cummings Playground located across from the entrance to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Cummings Playground, since its redevelopment, has become one of the most used playgrounds in the Chicago area. Daley was also a leader in the creation of Mid-North Park.
Vi Daley has served in neighborhood organizations in the Lincoln Park area for almost 20 years. She was president and a long-term board member of the Mid-North Association. During that time, she was actively involved in the development agreements reached by neighborhood committees and, both, Children’s Memorial and Augustana Hospitals. Vi is currently a member of the Old Town Triangle Association.
Daley has served on numerous school boards and continues to be involved in early childhood education programs. She is working with the principals of all of the schools in the 43rd Ward to encourage neighborhood residents to attend and participate in local school activities.
Vi and her husband, Vince, recently celebrated their 32nd anniversary. They are the parents of two adult daughters, Kathleen and Colleen.
