Info | Michael Lamb, 42, is an attorney admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Duquesne University School of Law, his Master's Degree from the H. John Heinz School of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University. He is also a graduate of the Local Government Academy. A lifelong democrat, Michael grew up in Beechview in the 19th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh where he attended St. Catherine's School. He went on to South Hills Catholic and Seton LaSalle High School. He and his wife Jill currently reside in Mt. Washington.
As the Allegheny County Prothonotary, Michael has been a pioneer in the area of court technology transforming the office from a 19th century manual record keeping office to the most technologically advanced court recording office in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A recent Pittsburgh Post Gazette Benchmark Study on Smart Government singled out the Prothonotary's Office as one area where Allegheny County government was ahead of the technology curve.
Michael understands how to do more with less in government and has a proven record of fiscal responsibility. In the past ten years his office staff has been cut in half while the level of service has actually improved.
An aggressive political organizer, Michael Lamb has managed successful Democratic campaigns in Allegheny County and in the City of Pittsburgh and has been on the forefront of local government reform. He has been an outspoken advocate for row office reform including the elimination of his own elected position and was the campaign manager of the Allegheny 2000 Citizens Committee that advocated for the County Home Rule Charter.
Prior to working in the Prothonotary's office, Michael Lamb served as a research and legislative assistant to Pittsburgh City Council and was the Assistant Regional Director of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency.
Michael Lamb has also been active in the community. He serves as Co-Chairperson of A PLUS Schools the Citizen's Alliance for Pittsburgh Public Education and is involved in several Irish-American organizations including the Knights of Equity, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. He is also a member of the Mount Washington – Duquesne Heights Community Development Corporation and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology and the Catholic Youth Association.
