InfoBorn in 1970, Alun has lived in South Wales all his life. Married to Emma, they live in Ewenny and both are the proud parents of Henri Thomas George who was born last year. Alun attended Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe before going to Ysgol Ddwyeithog Ystalyfera.

After leaving school, he joined the Lloyds Bank Group where he was employed as a Business Development Consultant. As a mature student, Alun completed a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Wales, specialising in Inward Investment policy.

Alun was first elected as the Assembly Member for South Wales West in 1999 and re-elected in 2003.

Away from politics, he is a keen gardener and skier and recently completed a Ski Jump on the BBC's Johnny Vaughan Tonight show under their series, Tories with a Talent! He has also raised money for a range of charities through running 10km fun runs.

Alun is the Conservative Assembly Member for South Wales West, which includes the seven constituencies of Bridgend, Swansea East, Swansea West, Gower, Ogmore, Aberavon and Neath. He is a member of the Assembly's Economic Development Committee and the Audit Committee and is the Conservatives spokesman on Economic Development and Transport.

He was first elected in May 1999, when the Assembly was established and re-elected in May 2003.

His campaigning and scrutinising efforts have won him many complimentary comments in the press and media, such as 'the Cairn Terrier snapping at the heels of the Executive' and 'One of the sharpest brains in the Assembly' by the Western Mail's political editor. He is also seen as an Assembly Members who represents the needs of business, as well as being a strong constituency member.
