InfoSince the moment he arrived in the San Jacinto Valley in 1992, Jim Ayres has been a constant contributor to improving the quality of life for all residents in the City of San Jacinto.

As a respected leader, Mayor Ayres was elected as First Vice-Chairman of the Riverside Transit Agency in December of 2003 after serving as Second Vice-Chairman for the previous two years.

Currently, he is employed at the Riverside County Economic Development Agency as the Regional Manager for the 5th Supervisorial District of Riverside County. He has been married for 19 years to his wife Nancy and they have one daughter Ashlee and one son Andrew.

Jim Ayres enlisted in the United States Air Force in May 1982. In May of 2003, he retired at the rank of Msgt E-7. During his 21 year career, he distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as a Aircraft Survival Equipment Craftsman in the 452nd Air Mobility Wing at March AFB. During this period, the outstanding professional skill, leadership and ceaseless efforts of Msgt Ayres resulted in major contributions to the success of many Air Force goals.

In 1990, he voluntarily deployed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for “Operation Desert Shield / Storm” and again in 1996 to Pisa, Italy for “Operation Decisive Endeavor” providing support for the no-fly zone over Bosnia. His mentoring and counsel guided the career decisions of many airmen. His decorations include:
• Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.
• Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
• Air Force Achievement Medal.
• Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device.
• Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
• Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters.
• National Defense Medal with bronze star.
• Cold War Medal.
• Southwest Asia Service Medal.
• Armed Forces Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
• Kuwait Liberation Medal Government of Kuwait.
• Air Training Ribbon.
• USAF PME Ribbon.

Jim Ayres has committed to the following areas of community service:
