Info | Brian Kenny was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the provincial general election held June 9, 2003. A Liberal M.L.A., he represents the constituency of Bathurst. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Ombudsman and the Standing Committee on Crown Corporations. As a member of the official opposition, he is the critic for interests relating to the Regional Development Corporation.
He was born in Bathurst and he is the son of David and Helen Kenny. A graduate of Bathurst High School, he is the past president of both the New Brunswick and Greater Bathurst Chambers of Commerce. He has also served as a co-chair of the Restigouche-Chaleur Economic Task Force.
He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1995. He served as secretary, treasurer, and director, of the Northern New Brunswick Real Estate Board. He has been active in the home construction business for many years and he is a member of the Manufactured Housing Association of Atlantic Canada Inc. and the Atlantic New Home Warranty Corporation.
A community minded individual, Mr. Kenny was a director at large with the Chaleur Regional Development Commission and he is an active member of Rotary International. He is associated with the New Brunswick Golf Association and the Squire Green Golf Club in Bathurst. He has been a volunteer with the Canada Games, Meals on Wheels, and several Bathurst festivals.
Brian and his wife, Wendy McParland of Big River, have two daughters, Bryanna and Madison.
