The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova has been the Republic's dominant party since 1993 until routed after the Election of 2014. Currently led by Vladimir Voronin, who was President of the Republic from April 7, 2001 to September 11, 2009, the party prides itself as being the only communist party to win back control of a government in the East post-Soviet collapse. The PCRM is closely linked with the Communist Party of Russia.
