InfoMrs. Eileen Meade Daily

Senator Eileen M. Daily (D-Westbrook) is presently serving her seventh term in the state Senate representing the 33rd Senatorial District, comprised of twelve towns in the lower Connecticut River Valley and along the Long Island Sound.

She is in her second term as the Senate chair of the tax-writing Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee, and she is vice-chair of both the Public Safety Committee and the newly created Select Committee on Veterans Affairs.

Senator Daily has also been appointed Deputy President Pro Tempore of the Senate for the current two-year term.

Among the highlights of 2004, Senator Daily was selected last fall to be one of a 15-member trade delegation from the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) to tour the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain is best known as the Gateway to the (Persian) Gulf and has had friendly relations with the United States for over 100 years.

Long active in her community, Senator Daily was First Selectwoman in Westbrook from 1983 to 1989, a member of the Westbrook Board of Selectmen from 1989 to 1991, and served as a member of the Westbrook Board of Education From 1976 to 1983.

Since 1985, Daily has been a member of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Commission. The Senator also serves on the Board of Directors of the Valley Shore YMCA, the Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council, and the Irish American Legislative Caucus.

Senator Daily and her husband Jim still live in Westbrook. They have two grown children--Jeff and Amy.
