A lifelong Hamilton resident, Dan graduated from Holy Cross Elementary School in Trenton and then attended Hamilton High School West where he placed in the top ten of his class receiving various awards for extracurricular activities and scholastic achievements. After graduating from Hamilton West, Dan attended Boston University for a year and then transferred to Georgetown University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in both Physics and Government. While at Georgetown, Dan was presented with the Treado Medal in Physics for all around achievement.

Upon receiving his degree, Dan returned home to Hamilton in the fall of 1997 to begin studies for his Masters Degree at Rutgers University. In 1999, he received a Master of Public Policy degree from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University with a concentration in science and technology policy.

Dan’s varied professional experiences provide him a unique view into some of the problems facing families every day. He currently serves as a project manager with the Center for Energy, Economic and Environmental Policy at the Bloustein School at Rutgers University. Prior to joining CEEEP, Dan served as a senior consultant and project manager with Telcordia Technologies Regulatory Solutions practice, where he managed a staff that followed telecommunications regulations at the Federal Communications Commission and assisted clients on its impact to their businesses. Prior to Telcordia, Dan was a research assistant with the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development where he contributed to various projects at the Center concerning employment training and workforce development.

Dan’s political and community involvement has been ongoing regardless of his profession. Dan served two years as Council President, a position to which he was chosen by his colleague's on his first day in office. He is currently on Council in Hamilton. He has served as the Mayor's alternate on the Hamilton Township Library Board of Trustees. He is a member of the American Council of Young Political Leaders, Greater Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton Elks Lodge #2262, Citizens for a Better Hamilton, the Kiwanis of Hamilton, the Board of the Mercer Area District Boy Scouts, and Friends of the Hamilton and New Jersey State Libraries.

Dan is married to Hande Benson, PhD, an assistant professor at the LeBow School of Business at Drexel University. He and his wife own a home near Robinson Elementary School in Hamilton.
