Info | Dan Grossman is a Denver native. He was born at Rose Hospital in 1968, to Arnold and Kay Grossman. He attended Bromwell Elementary School, in the heart of Senate District 32, and Graland Country Day School. In 1986, he graduated from East High School.
Dan studied political science at the University of Kansas and received his B.A. degree in 1990. At KU, Dan wrote a weekly column on national and international affairs for the campus newspaper and made the honor roll.
After graduation, Dan returned to Denver and enrolled at the University of Denver College of Law where he was a member of the law review and received the American Jurisprudence award for excellence in the study of Constitutional Law. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1993.
After five years of private practice, Dan took a job as Senior Corporate Counsel for TeleTech Holdings, Inc., a Colorado-based customer relations management company with over 20,000 employees world-wide. Dan also held a business title of Executive Director of Employee Relations.
In August of 2003, Dan re-entered private practice and is special counsel at the Baird Law Firm in Denver. He specializes in litigation.
Dan was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1996, became Minority Caucus Chairman after his first term and became the youngest person in Colorado history to serve as House Minority Leader in 2000. His accomplishments in the House include the passage of measures that strengthened environmental protections, made regulatory policy more friendly to small businesses and improved the state's criminal laws and law enforcement resources.
In 2002, Dan was elected to the Colorado State Senate, where he currently serves as the body's youngest member. During the 2003 session, Dan served on the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Joint Committee on Legal Services.
Dan and his wife, Robin Koenigsberg, live in the Congress Park neighborhood in Denver with their dog, Cy, and their cat, Macaulay.
