Senator Mitchell, born on September 4, 1940, in Montgomery, is serving his sixth term in the Senate. He received his B.S. degree from Auburn University and his J.D. degree from the University of Alabama. He is Dean of Jones School of Law. Senator Mitchell and his wife, Rosalind, are the parents of three children: Maury, Shelly, and Wendy. He is a Democrat and a member of the Church of Christ.
