Senator Smith is Vice President of the Slocomb National Bank and is married to Charlie Smith of Geneva. She is a Republican, a Baptist, a member of the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging Board, the State of Alabama Agribusiness Council, the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, the Community Bankers Association, the Alabama Bankers Association, NFIB, the Geneva County United Way Board, the Houston County Young Republicans, and the Houston County Republicans� Women�s Association. Senator Smith has served as the Mayor of Slocomb, the Mayor Pro-Tem of Slocomb, and has been a council member of the city of Slocomb since 1989. She is the recipient of the 1998 Slocomb Woman of the Year Award, Wal-Mart Hometown Hero Award and Girls, Inc. Role Model of the Year, 1998.
