| Info | Councilmember Vinnie Bacon grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He worked for a few years after college as an environmental engineer and then moved west to California, settling in to Fremont more than 20 years ago.
While in Fremont, Councilmember Bacon earned two master’s degrees from the University of California at Berkeley; one in City Planning and the other in Transportation Engineering. He then worked as a transportation planner for several years. Councilmember Bacon worked on many projects throughout the Bay Area including several in the City of Fremont.
During the ‘dot com’ boom of the late ‘90s,Councilmember Bacon moved into high-tech. He has worked in various Technical Support management roles at large companies such as Nortel Networks and VeriSign, and at a couple of startup companies. Councilmember Bacon is currently the Chief Technology Officer at a law firm in Oakland.
Councilmember Bacon lives in the Centerville area of Fremont with his wife, Jenny, and son, Patrick.
