InfoStanley R. "Stan" Jones

Stan Jones was born in 1939, in a house built by his dad, about seven miles west of Bozeman (near the Gallatin River). He was raised on several farms around Bozeman, working with his dad each summer raising green peas.
After completing high school in 1956, Stan went to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. However, his dad was having real problems that summer, so Stan resigned from the Academy and came back home to help. He later enrolled in college at MSU (then it was MSC). He enrolled in the Air Force Aviation Cadet, pilot training program in 1958. Being a pilot was his lifetime dream. Unfortunately he was "washed out" after about six months of training, and returned to Bozeman to continue college.

In 1961, Stan graduated from Montana State University. He received a commission from the AFROTC and immediately went into the Navigator training program. After training, he flew the RB-66 and the RF4c throughout the world. In 1969, he qualified for an Air Force scholarship program and received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Arizona State University. He was then assigned to the Boeing plant in Seattle as a Contracting Officer for the Air Force. Stan left active duty with the Air Force in 1974. He remained in the Air Force reserves as a Contracting Staff Officer until his retirement in 1989, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

After leaving active duty in 1974, Stan was hired by a Chicago company, Telemedia, Inc., as its Contracts Manager in Iran (then under the Shaw). In Iran, Stan became the General Manager of the commercial division, negotiating contracts with the Iranian Oil Company, and several agencies of the Iranian government. He returned to Chicago and worked as the corporate Contracts Manager for another year.

In 1978, Stan returned to Seattle and established an independent consulting practice in the area of business planning. After three years, he was hired by a major ship builder as its Director of Project Management. He was responsible for the management of six major ship building programs. He then returned to being an independent consultant for many years in the Seattle Area.

Stan studied for and passed the exam for a Certified Professional Contracts Manager designation from the National Contracts Management Association. He served as the Puget Sound Chapter President for two years, Vice President for Education for four years, and Treasurer for six years. He was also designated a Fellow of the association. Stan has taught many contract management seminars and courses. He has instructed for UCLA (under contract with Boeing), the University of Washington, and for Montana State University.

Stan holds a commercial pilot's license, with an instrument rating. He has flown small airplanes all up and down the west coast and all around Alaska. He has also flown as far east as Dayton, Ohio. Stan has seen a great deal of the world from the cockpit of an airplane.

Stan was a life long Republican until the party began to significantly disregard the limitations placed on government by the constitution. He stopped voting for several years out of protest. After researching the federal constitution, and the American history surrounding it, Stan gained a great understanding and appreciation of the miracle our founding fathers created. From this same study he became aware of the Libertarian party and the fact that it was the only party of principle – dedicated to upholding the constitution, and maintaining the personal freedom of all the people of America.

The Libertarian party rejects political expediency and the sacrifice of principles to obtain votes. The party relies on the guidance of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and contemporaneous documents of the founding fathers to guide it in establishing its principles and its platform.

Libertarians believe in small government, very low taxes (user fees), personal freedom, and personal responsibility. It wants government out of our pocket book, out of our bank account, out of our businesses, and out of our lives. Libertarians want Americans to be free. Stan wants exactly the same things for all Montanans. More importantly, Stan knows that LIBERTY WORKS and government does not. It will give the most people the highest standard of living and the greatest wealth. Stan wants to return our state and our nation to the great nation it once was. A nation dedicated to preserving the rights of all the people.
