| Info | Legislative candidates are people who want to make or change our laws. Unfortunately, issue politics is almost dead, and has been largely replaced by name recognition ads (and negative ads and attack ads) purchased from bribes by future beneficiaries of bribed candidates. I believe lawmaker candidates should campaign for years to provide voters an opportunity to input their needs and desires, and by publication of the candidate's legislative proposals in time to help voters make an intelligent decision. To start the ball rolling, here are my proposals if elected, and I invite Senator Patrick Leahy to publish his legislative proposals for re-election for the 2005-2010 term, in time to give voters an opportunity to compare his program with mine.
I will take no money from anybody. If elected to the U.S. Senate on November 2, 2004, I will introduce legislation to provide
Secure health care to all. I am against government health care but I favor government financing of all health care utilizing the present providers but excluding insurers who make it too expensive.
Secure employment by prohibiting management of owning stock in the companies they manage, paying them by the size of the workforce as middle managers are paid now, and giving every employee a proprietary right to his/her job. To lay off an employee, the employer will have to negotiate a settlement based on the residual value of the job: years till age 65 times the average annual pay with fringe benefits. To prevent job exports, goods made by exported jobs will be taxed to make the goods 20% less profitable than U.S. made products.
Secure social security by prohibiting gambling with junk stock and preventing the president and Congress from "borrowing" from the Social Security Trust Fund. If the Government is short, it must sell Treasury bonds and raise interest rates, not rip off small savers, enrich banks, and finance globaloney.
Justice for underdogs by replacing patronage judges and corporate lawyers with experienced, fair and honest jurors, and teaching high-school students sufficient legal skills to protect their legal rights without lawyers, when they become employees, consumers, homeowners, and taxpayers.
A clean environment by switching from fossil fuels and nukes
to clean, peaceful and renewable hydrogen for vehicles and hydroelectric, solar and eolectric power. Hydrogen cars, both as dual fuel internal combustion engines and hydrogen fuel cell powered, are already on the road but we must convert. Eolectric power is from windmills driving electric generators to electrolyze water to oxygen and hydrogen to be liquefied cryogenically, and the hydrogen used in cars or home heating. The conversion to be financed by a fossil profit tax. Switching to hydrogen will also end oil wars and free military and foreign policy to serve the public interest, not corporations in oil, coal and nukes.
Reparations for victims of age discrimination in employment.
Compel discriminators to pay reparations to all their age victims since 1967 or earlier in states with pre-existing age acts. Violations to be established by victim affidavits creating rebuttable presumption of violation. Amounts billed to violators to be based on Social Security records, employer records and other evidence. In all age related litigation, defendants always bear the burden of proof and all costs and fees for all parties. Only victims can compel discovery. Violators already know why they discriminated, plus they have all the money and witnesses. To be managed by new federal Age Victims Agency (U.S.AVA), to be staffed by motivated age victims only, and financed by fines.
