InfoSteven L. Labriola was elected Oyster Bay Town Clerk in 2003. Prior to his service in Town government, he was a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 12th Assembly District for seven years.

Town Clerk Labriola brings to the Town of Oyster Bay a wealth of government and community service. He began his career as an Aide to Congressman Norman F. Lent in 1984. Prior to holding public office, he served as Director of Operations for the Town of Oyster Bay. In this capacity, he was involved in all facets of town government. As a member of the budget committee, he made government do more with less. He computerized operations and improved systems, procedures and equipment that resulted in increased operating efficiency.

Town Clerk Labriola is well known for taking an active role in local civic, fraternal and small business groups. He is a member of the Order of Sons of Italy in America, Knights of Columbus, Knights of Pythias, Kiwanis Club, Crown Village Civic Association and has been involved as a Big Brother of Nassau County Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Mr. Labriola is also a member of the Long Island Housing Partnership Task force on Foreclosure Prevention and the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators and was recently appointed as an Advisory Board Member of Broadlawn Manor, a facility which provides skilled nursing, sub-acute services and rehabilitation, dedicated Alzheimer's disease/dementia related services, adult day services and an adult home with an Alzheimer's specialty. He has worked extensively with the volunteer fire departments, police, youth and senior programs in the district, as well as the Nassau Country Traffic Safety Board.

In the State Assembly, Town Clerk Labriola served as a Member of the Committee on Governmental Employees, Committee on Education, Committee on Banks, Committee on Economic Development, and the Committee on Corporations, Commissions and Authorities. He also served as a member of the Legislative Commission on Toxic Substances and Hazardous Wastes.

In recognition of his interest in community affairs during his tenure in the New York State Assembly, Town Clerk Labriola has received many awards. He was honored by Child Abuse Prevention Services for his support and dedication to keeping every child safe from harm. He was inducted into Massapequa High School's Hall of Fame for his demonstrated achievements in government, public service and community involvement. The Italian Board of Guardians presented him with its first annual Public Service Award for his contributions to the community. Additionally, Town Clerk Labriola was honored with the Ambition Award by St. John's University for outstanding leadership, vision and political service; Community Man of the Year from the Knights of Pythias Mid-Island Lodge; Grand Marshall of the O.S.I.A. Columbus Feast and Festival; recognition award by Liberty Partnership's programs for his commitment to at-risk youth; recognition certificate by the Association for the Help of Retarded Children for his support of AHRC children and adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities in Nassau County; recognition certificate by the Farmingdale and Massapequa Chambers of Commerce for his outstanding contribution to the small business community; Commander's Award from U.S. Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots" program; citation from Make a Wish Foundation of Metro NY; citation from Veteran's of Foreign Wars of the United States 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Town Clerk Labriola was born and raised in Massapequa Park and educated in Massapequa public schools. He attended St. John's University where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Government, Politics, and Public Administration.

Town Clerk Labriola currently resides in Massapequa with his wife and children.
