| Info | Andrew Raia of East Northport was elected as the Assemblyman for the 9th District on November 5, 2002. The District encompasses portions of the Towns of Huntington, Babylon and Islip.
Mr. Raia was born and raised in the Town of Huntington, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 1991.
Prior to his election to the Assembly, Mr. Raia served as the Chief of Staff to Suffolk County Legislator Allan Binder. In addition, he worked as a Legislative Assistant in the offices of former New York State Assemblymen John Cochrane and John Behan, former New York State Senate Majority Leader Ralph Marino, and New York State Senator Carl Marcellino.
Mr. Raia is active in numerous community non-profit and civic organizations, and is a graduate of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce Foundation Leadership Program. Mr. Raia serves on the Executive Boards of the Huntington Boys and Girls Club; the Huntington Freedom Center; the Huntington Station Enrichment Center; and Perspectives on Youth. In addition, he is a member of both the Huntington and East Northport Chambers of Commerce. Mr. Raia is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Thomas A. Judge Council in East Northport and the Sons of Italy, Constantino Brumidi Lodge in Deer Park.
