Infoaverne MacInnis is the Green Party of PEI candidate for District 4, Belfast-Murray River, in the 2023 provincial election. Born in Montague, MacInnis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.

She spent the first half of her career providing therapeutic care in the Mental Health and Addictions field before becoming a counsellor in the public education system, where she spent much of that time working in special education. In addition to these placements, MacInnis provided emergency/mobile mental health services for more than thirty years of her career.

“I am deeply concerned about the state of healthcare, education and land use on PEI. This is what motivates me to step up and run for the Green Party. The status quo of our system is not working for Islanders. We need people who can create room for innovative ideas, questioning, and imagining something different. I think PEI is in crisis. This Island needs a serious shake up and it needs to start with its politics. It can’t continue with “business as usual,” says MacInnis.

“I’m a risk taker. I’ve always been able to think outside the box. I’m able to gather information, synthesize and hypothesize. Above all, I’m a good listener. I listen with my heart as well as my head, which would make me a strong representative for my community,” says MacInnis. “Everyone has a story, and everyone wants to be heard. I work well collaboratively which is vital to getting the job done.”

In 2007, MacInnis bought what would become her permanent Island home in Murray Harbour and assumed a part-time position with Health PEI as a youth addictions counsellor. She ended her professional career in the fall of 2021 and has since spent her time indulging in some of her passions which include writing, baking and being domestic help to her four cats.
