InfoKenny E. Marchant is the United States Congressman of the 24th District of Texas.

Congressman Marchant was born in Bonham, Texas on February 23, 1951. He was raised in a middle-class upbringing with a supportive family that instilled in him the values of hard work, determination and service to others.

Working his way through Southern Nazarene University by roofing, Congressman Marchant earned a degree in business. After graduating, he started his own roofing business that quickly developed into a successful homebuilding company in the North Texas community.

He entered public service at the age of 29 as a city councilman of Carrollton. After four years on the council, and two as mayor, he stood for election in the Texas House of Representatives. Elected nine consecutive terms as state representative, he directed comprehensive fiscal policies that reshaped the financial environment and fostered significant economic development throughout the state.

As a United States Congressman, he has been recognized as a "Hero of the Taxpayer" and "Small Business Champion" by Americans for Tax Reform. Congressman Marchant has also earned the "Spirit of Enterprise" award by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and been recognized by the Family Research Council as a "True Blue Member of Congress" for his commitment to strong family values.

In the 111th Congress, Congressman Marchant serves on the House Financial Services Committee. He oversees all components of the nation's housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities. He also serves on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee and the Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee.

He was elected Congressman of the 24th District of Texas on November 4, 2004. He and his wife, Donna, are the proud parents of four children and two grandchildren.
