InfoBarb MacLeod grew up in Charlottetown. She began her entrepreneurial career in Charlottetown in 1988, opening two retail stores, Whipper Snapper – The Fun Toy Store and The Uncommon Grocer.

Following this, she graduated from UPEI with a Bachelor of Science in 2007. Barb then worked with the PEI ADAPT Council and Canada’s Smartest Kitchen. She was a key player in bringing to life Charlottetown’s first street festival, Farm Day in the City.

Barb began work as a visual artist in 2012 and as a potter in 2020. Always entrepreneurial, she started a company, Art of Place, to sell her artwork and opened a shop at Peakes Quay in 2019 to showcase her and other artists’ works.

Barb is also an active volunteer. In 2020 she became a juried member of the PEI Crafts Council.

She is particularly proud of her work as Chair of the Charlottetown Arts Advisory Board, where in 2022, the committee successfully installed three new pieces of public art.

Barb has also spent time as a volunteer in politics and is excited about this unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening our community in Charlottetown as an elected representative.

Barb and her husband, Sandy MacDonald, live in Charlottetown.
