Info | James Walsh has taught History and Political Science at the University of Colorado Denver since 1998, specializing in the history and politics of worker and immigrant rights, community organizing, social movements, and the strategies and methods that low income communities have used to gain social and political capital. For decades, Jim has influenced the way that we see the history of our city and state. Jim’s research into a 19th century pauper cemetery in Leadville led to the construction of a major memorial there recognizing the names and stories of immigrants from Ireland and other parts of the world. Jim is also the founder of the Romero Theater Troupe, an all-volunteer social justice community theater that uses the stage to preserve and amplify stories of struggle from working class communities. For eighteen years, the Romero Troupe has kept alive local and national stories of solidarity, grounded in the larger struggle for human dignity.
