| Info | Mr. Pettibone grew up on a small farm in Michigan where he excelled in academics and sports. He was named to the 1975 AP Class B High School All State Football Team. He attended Hillsdale College on an athletic scholarship for football and track. At Hillsdale he earned a liberal arts degree with honors in Accounting as well as a minor in German. While working full time, Mr. Pettibone earned an MBA with highest honors from the University of Texas. He met his wife, Sabrina, while attending Hillsdale College. She is a graduate from Hillsdale College and the Thunderbird School of International Management in Phoenix Arizona. Sabrina and Ted, along with their 8 children, reside in St. Marys, Kansas.
Mr. Pettibone's running mate for Lt. Governor is Mike Wilson from Salina, Kansas. Mr. Wilson has 32 years of teaching experience at the college and university level. He is currently an associate professor in electronic engineering technology at Kansas State University Salina. He will bring an educator's perspective to the team in addressing the important education issue. Mr. Wilson is the outgoing Reform Party Chairman, a position he held for 2 consecutive terms. In that role, he was instrumental in getting Pat Buchanan on the 2002 ballot for President in Kansas. Mr. Wilson served four years in the US Navy. He lives in Salina with his wife. They have 2 adult children.
Mr. Pettibone worked 12 years with Tandem Computers, Inc., a multi-billion dollar computer company based in Silicon Valley. During his career with Tandem, he held several responsible financial management positions at both the domestic and international levels. He learned how to be a "hard nosed" but "nimble" leader in the fast paced and highly competitive computer industry. Mr. Pettibone earned the reputation as a "change agent" through his successful involvement in numerous business process re-engineering efforts and large computer system implementations. In 1996, Mr. Pettibone departed Tandem as Director of Worldwide Manufacturing Finance in order to assume the role as Director of Profit Improvement with Payless ShoeSource, Inc. in Topeka, Kansas. He was successful in driving substantial cost savings for Payless ShoeSource in this role, despite having no prior retailing experience. Every penny is important in discount retailing and management is constantly focused on expense control. In 1999, Mr. Pettibone left Payless ShoeSource to go into business for himself.
